Coaching in the UK
Coaching data in the UK falls under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, both amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025. The regulator is the ICO (from 30 September 2026 formally the Information Commission, still known as the ICO). Session notes deserve particular care: coaching conversations can touch on stress, burnout or mental health, and data concerning health is special category data under UK GDPR, which needs an additional condition before you can process it.

One fact to bring to your data protection review: Coaching Loft's servers are in the United Arab Emirates, in a single location. Personal data you store with us therefore leaves the UK, and UK GDPR's rules on international transfers apply, so your data protection lead will want to assess that transfer before you go live.
Credentials UK buyers recognize include ICF's ACC, PCC and MCC (the UK ICF Chapter was the first ICF chapter set up outside North America), EMCC Global accreditation through EMCC UK, and the Association for Coaching's coach accreditation. EMCC Global and the Association for Coaching co-sign the Global Code of Ethics, which asks their members to keep, store and dispose of client records securely and in line with data protection law in the client's country; private notes and data export make that easier to show. On scheduling, clients book themselves, and calendar sync with Outlook, Office 365, Exchange, Google and iCalendar keeps availability current through the switch between GMT and British Summer Time.
