Coaching in India
India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) now has its operating rules: the Digital Personal Data Protection Rules, 2025, notified on 14 November 2025. The Data Protection Board of India oversees compliance, and the rules on notices, security safeguards and breach reporting take effect 18 months after notification. In DPDP terms, the organization running a coaching program is typically the Data Fiduciary, each coachee is a Data Principal, and a platform processing data on its behalf is a Data Processor, which the Act says may be engaged only under a valid contract.
Rule 6 sets minimum security safeguards, starting with encryption or similar measures and controlled access to systems, and expects contracts with Data Processors to cover safeguards too. Coaching Loft encrypts data in transit and at rest, lets admins require two-factor authentication, and splits administration into four role types with a detailed permission matrix. We also offer enterprise clients a data processing agreement. Session notes can be kept private, and an account-wide default can lock who reads what a coach writes, so managers and sponsors see progress rather than conversations.
Coaching Loft's hosting is outside India: our servers are in the United Arab Emirates, with no choice of region. The DPDP Act allows personal data to be processed outside India unless the Central Government restricts transfers to a notified country, so check the current notifications as part of your assessment. Coachees can ask to access, correct or erase their data, and under the Rules, Data Fiduciaries must respond within 90 days; export of reports, client files and raw data helps you answer.

Coaching Loft provides safeguards that Rule 6 describes: encryption in transit and at rest, access control through four admin role types, and two-factor authentication admins can require. Enterprise clients can sign a data processing agreement, and customers can export their data.
Coaching Loft's servers are in the United Arab Emirates, and there is no choice of hosting region. The DPDP Act lets personal data be processed outside India unless the Central Government restricts transfers to a notified country, and Rule 15 lets the government set requirements on making data available to foreign states. Check the current notifications when you assess us, and ask for a data processing agreement if you are an enterprise client.
The Rules were notified on 14 November 2025 and phase in. The rules setting up the Data Protection Board of India applied immediately, and the rules on consent managers follow one year later. The core duties, including notices to Data Principals, reasonable security safeguards and personal data breach intimation, apply 18 months after notification.
